A Sticky Situation

so I came across this article about this organization that promotes kids to go to their high school prom in complete duct tape costumes for a scholarship. The top couple get $3,000, second place gets $2,000, third place gets $1,000 and runner up gets $500...

take a look at some of these picture. I'll put them in order of my least favorite to most favorite :]

1. Color Crazy

2. Screaming Sunspot

3. The Brown Brigade

4. Flowers For All

5. Royal Blue

6. Frolic through the Meadows

7. Totally Twenties

8. Peace Out Boy Scout

9. A Wonderland of Tape

10. Lovely in Pink

Metaphysics.

yes, metaphysics is one of the only terms I learned from taking philosophy haha

I have no idea why, but today I’ve been pondering alot about the big questions in life. The “why are we here?”s, the “what is our purpose?”s. I’ve always grown up thinking that the answer to those are “we are here to serve God and be a light to those who don’t already follow God. We are to spread the good news so that everyone should live in eternity with our Lord and Savior.” something like that.
However, today I was thinking and I started thinking about fulfillment. Will I find fulfillment? What will it look like?
I was going to ask my dad if he found fulfillment living the life he does, but I’m sure he’d say something like “I found fulfillment by raising three great children who love the Lord and by living my life as an example for my children and for other non-believers.” or somewhere along those lines.
I’m not sure though. I don’t know how I’ll find fulfillment. I don’t even know if I will. With so many turmoils and trials, I have hope, but its not much. I think it sounds selfish, but everytime I think of living my life to shine for Christ, I don’t see a whole lot. I can’t picture myself doing any of the typical Christ-like things. Its hard to be outgoing and happy and selfless all the time. Its just hard. And a life of doing that doesn’t sound very exciting. I dunno why I see it that way, but ever since I’ve thought of life that way, I’ve thought of how nostalgic it will probably be. And is it even worth it to go through life (of course, I would never commit suicide or anything, but still) if thats the reason for living? I dunno. I just don’t know.
However, I think that one of the first steps towards finding fulfillment is realizing that your life is worth living for whatever reason it may be. Maybe your reason is to help children in Africa. Maybe its to become a politician and lead a country. Maybe its to get a job and have a family. Whatever it may be. And I think the next step is acknowledging that Christ’s path is the only path towards fulfillment. Its hard to commit an entire life, all we know of our existence, to one person. But we also know that its the best for our life.
There are a lot of things we don’t know. And I think its that fact that kills me. I don’t want to live my life doing everything for Christ and then come to and end and not feel fulfilled. I want to feel like my life was worth it. Like I did something to make a difference.
i don’t know how its going to turn out in the end, but I know I’ll find fulfillment in my own way.

Waterfalls Indoors

So to update all of you like 2 people, I will start with my first day of work. Yes, it was a week and a day after my last post, but whatever. Nothing interesting happened since then. Isn’t life exciting?

I didn’t get to work on our opening day, but Emma did stop by the store to say hi. I quote, “just went to Tilly’s, only to find out you’re not working.” ha. Anyways, so my first day of working was pretty eventful. So i showed up and about 10 minutes into my day, everything is normal when a random wet man decides to run into our store (no, wet is an understatement. he looked like he just jumped into a pool) and asks to see our water pipes or something. We’re all super confused. I go outside to find a waterfall coming down the stairs from the floor above us, draining into the parking lot. Apparently the guy said that a water pipe broke and the water could start leaking into our store if it didn’t start. Well ... he was right. It started flooding in our store. So everywhere behind the cash registers was covered in water. It was great. So a few minutes later, I’m helping a customer and I point to show them one of the mannequins at the front window and as I look past the mannequin, I see a firetruck parked outside our store. what the heck. So I go outside to see what the deal is. There wasn’t one firetruck, oh no, there were three. And not to mention one of my assistant managers was making it the biggest deal of life. So to keep you updated, we now have a drenched man, about 10 firefighters, and my crazy manager walking around our store. I felt like I was the only person who wasn’t surprised. For some reason I expect random events like this to happen in my life. And they never fail me. Its great.

Oh. My. Goodness.

So for the longest time I couldn't remember my username to log onto blogger. It was rather frustrating. But I found it so yay. The posts that follow this one are the ones that I would have posted in the meantime haha...

Brain Mush

Oh my goodness I don't think I've ever sat through an 8 hour class before. Holy poop its not fun. Well, it was alright. I didn't die. Thats a plus.

However, here are a few things that made it interesting:
1. The District Manager of Loss Prevention came in today. He was exasperatingly boring. Also, he had a creepy eye. You know those people who have an eye that seems to kind of have a mind of its own? Now I'm not talking about a lazy eye. Lazy eyes are funny. This guys eye, this was creepy. I was sitting in the exact position to where every time he looked down at his laptop, his left eye would be awkwardly staring at me. At first I didn't notice, but then once I did I got the chills and was so creeped out I wanted to leave. It was like his eye had its own mind and was staring me down every five second. ugghh I get the chills just thinking about it.
2. I got runner up for most Tilly's-representative clothing for the guys. Hurray. I think I would've won the guys, but the other guy had a bunch of friends in the group. pssshhh whatever. no I'm just kidding it was kind of a joke anyway.
3. we did a bunch of role-playing and it was really funny and all around fun. I think it was the awkwardness. No one knew what to do at the beginning so it was just kinda extremely awkward. great times.
4. Also, I'm now known for the word "awesome" I started using it probably at least once in every sentence subconsciously. Whatever. It fits who I am... (hair flip)
5. And apparently the Swiffer is going to be my new best friend. ... I remain skeptical

On another note, putting an extra pair of sunglasses in my car might have been the best decision of my life. Everytime I go in my car and think "shoot! I forgot my sunglasses and now I'm gonna crash cuz I can't see...I guess I better go get some." I can now also think "oh wait! I have some right here" (cue "tada" sound) Anyways. A great decision. I highly encourage you to do the same.

Also today, I wanted to die a little. You will not believe how many places I went to in order to get a smog check for my car...sooooo lame. Apparently I needed to go to a "test only" center and only God knows how many of those there are. The first place I went to wasn't a test only and they informed me that I need to go somewhere else. (oh oops.) The second place's smog machine was down. (really? ugh. lame.) the third place I drove about 30-45 min cuz I couldn't find any other ones closer and they didn't do smog checks. (ohhhkay you're joking, right? what kind of lube center doesn't do smog checks?...this sucks) and eventually I went to a 76 (yes. a 76 gas station did my special "test-only" smog check. go figure.) and they were super awesome I'm definitely going back there the next time I need a smog check. It was the 76 on Mira Mesa Blvd. They're awesome.

So You Think You Can Dance was awesome.
I'm soooo glad they brought back some of my favorite dancers from the past seasons! (Courtney, Mark, Lauren, ... others) I'm sooooo excited to see what happens. I'm also extremely glad that they showed all of the dancers this season in their own style the first routined show because some of the past seasons, sometimes you didn't get to see a dancer in their own element until a few weeks in and that was lame.
Its awesome.

goodnight.

Is Tilly really a girls name?

So today was my first day of training.
We all (about 20 something of us) walked into the conference room at the hotel and it was like a dance party. music Videos playing. music pumping. candy all over the tables. we each had our own personal folders. I was stoked.
However, it was rather boring.
6 hours of sitting and listening to information. Halfway through the orientation I thought to myself, "I feel like I'm getting brainwashed." And then I pretended like I was on a secret mission to get the information out of the Tilly's corporation and it became much more interesting.

Also, I made the district manager laugh. The first time, we were introducing ourselves and we were supposed to give an interesting fact about ourselves. (and let me tell you, everyone likes to have fun. how boring) I stood up and informed the class (thats what it was really, a class on how to be a Tilly's employee) that my favorite animals were penguins. My district manager laughed and said "That's my husband's favorite animal!" We have so much in common.
Later that same evening, we were going over dress code policy and my assistant manager didn't know the difference between flip-flops and sandals and apparently flip-flops are against our policy since they don't have a back strap. I told him that flip flops flip and flop while you walk. My district manager gave me a high five and laughed. I think we're well on our way to being great friends.

On another note, me and the girl next to me were talking about how we had no Tilly's-style clothes hardly at all. Just then we were informed that we were going to have a fashion show tomorrow and whoever could represent the Tilly's fashion vision would be the winner. I looked at her and laughed. I'm screwed.

What else happened at orientation?
Oh yes we had a lego building contest. It was a little bit anticlimactic. whatever. my team got 2nd place. apparently you don't get a prize for being the 1st losers.

p.s. I'm obsessed with this video for some reason I think its hilarious and have been secretly quoting it in my head for the past ... since whenever I heard it.

I Dreamed a Dream

Well I thought I was a bad speller, but wow it took me at least 4 tries to get past the "we think you might be a hacking robot so you need to type in what this picture says in the box below."
Unhelpful to my self esteem.

Hurray. I have a blog. A blog for the sole purpose of blogging.
So I do not expect anybody to read this.
At all.

Well this is fun.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have something more exciting to say.

[p.s. dyed my hair.]
came back to bite me in the butt. More like a chomp. A chomp in the butt.
